Expired Domain Name Recommendations!

Filed under: Uncategorized on 28th Nov 2008 by Jennifer

For those of you that don’t know… I just spent the last couple of weeks traveling from where I lived in New York, to where I live now in California!

We made a road trip out of it, visiting family and other interesting places along the way.  It was a long, exciting, and exhausting adventure… especially considering we did it with a cat.

Now that I feel settled down a bit, I think it’s time to get back to blogging.

I thought it would be nice to start things out with a nice list of Expired domain name recommendations.  There’s quite a variety, but there is a focus on Blog, and recipes domain names in this list.  Enjoy!

Your Domains Should Be Bookmarked in Your Brain

Filed under: Uncategorized on 27th Nov 2008 by Jamie Parks

After eight days straight of being under the camera eye, I gotta say it’s been a wild ride so far. I’ve met hundreds of people that I never would have met if not for this experiment. The conversations have been mostly intriguing, at times mind expanding, and every now and then, a little mundane.

So in the spirit of the American holiday of Thanks Giving I want to tell each and every one of you who stopped by and chatted with me that I’m thankful for the time and attention that you have invested with me. All of you are really affecting my days (and nights) in many meaningful ways. I think we are ALL on to something with this LIVE thing and I’m just happy to be a part of this diverse community. IT’s all so much larger than any one of us…

All in all, the decision to stream LIVE 24/7 is definitely turning a new page in my domaining journey. I can’t see myself wanting or needing to switch off the camera anytime soon. But then again, it is still very early on with me trying to fill the LIVEdomainer role, so we’ll see. So much has went through my brain in the past 192 hours, there’s really no telling where this thing will be in 2009. I’ll promise to keep at it, if you promise to keep at. I’m getting a lot of questions and finding myself repeating the same answers often, but it doesn’t bother me. KEEP THE QUESTIONS COMING. Without you, I’m nothing.

I’ve learned this much; domainers are peculiar people.
I’ve probably met more of you guys/girls in the past eight days than I’ve ever met before. I’ve encountered unique, weird, brilliant, geeky, courageous, funny, respectful, patient, and countless other personality types. It’s truly been a trip! Here’s a word of advice though: If you can’t recall the domains that you own, then maybe they are not that great or maybe you simply have way too many of them. Your domains should be bookmarked in your brain. It’s not easy…

So you want to shake shit up? Get more involved. Here’s a simple starters guide for utilizing Social Media to get the word out about your game. Take a deep breath and dive in! (We’re waiting.)

  1. UnPark a domain
  2. Start a blog – typepad.com or wordpress.com
  3. Use twitter.com
  4. Start a newsletter - aweber.com
  5. Get a web cam – logitech.com then Stream at Ustream.tv
  6. Use Skype.com – call me–> LIVEDOMAINER
  7. Record everything. Archive everything. Link everything.
  8. Respond to e-mails <– most importantly!
  9. Be REAL. Be TRANSPARENT. Be ALIVE!
  10. BE YOURSELF. <– most, most importantly…

Well, that’s all I got for now… Thanks again for all the encouragement and support. You know who you are. =)

A TRAGIC Use of Technology

Filed under: Uncategorized on 21st Nov 2008 by Jamie Parks

In light of my latest project LIVEdomainer.com, I don’t really know what to say about this tragic news… but it really hit a dark place in my heart when I found out about it. I haven’t watched the archived footage, and I don’t plan to…

THIS KINDA SHIT DESTROYS ME INSIDE…
IT NEVER SHOULD HAVE HAPPENED.

“In a striking display of the power of live video, Abraham K. Biggs committed suicide on Wednesday while broadcasting himself on video site Justin.tv. As we understand it from various forum posts, the 19-year-old Floridian was apparently egged on by commenters on Justin.tv and fellow forum users on”

New name for Cyber-Squatters: Domain Pirates?

Filed under: Uncategorized on 21st Nov 2008 by DNBlogger

I came across this nice little read about how no one ever imagined that the domains will have great value one day and thus no one cared to look properly at the complex legal aspects involved when the domain name system was initially designed.

When the domain name server system was established it was never envisaged (what carefree days) that domain names would have any value, financial or otherwise. However, the internet became more commercial and its size increased exponentially, and companies began to recognise the value of internet domain names.

Overall the article is simple, mostly accurate, and to the point but it caught my attention with its title:

Domain Names and Pirates

Sounds funny but makes sense :)

LIVEDOMAINER.COM (Hope I don’t regret this…)

Filed under: Uncategorized on 19th Nov 2008 by Jamie Parks

So I’ve given it some thought and have decided to go ahead and begin LIVE streaming throughout the day/night.
The way I see it is like this, the technology to communicate a LIVE visual message is here, it’s in-expensive, relatively simple to activate and stands to bridge a major gap in the DIY divide.

I’m going LIVE to serve as a point of pause for domainers.  With all the doom in the air, I’m afraid that there are a lot of good domainers who are
about to throw in the towel and exit this industry. Which is the last thing any of us should want to see happen especially when things are so well
positioned to truly explode.

Likewise, I suspect that there are many who are simply overwhelmed by the daunting task of where to start with regard to properly managing their
investment.
Sometimes having another person that can relate with what you’re going through is all it takes to ride out a storm.

I’m not sure of the consistency of my immediate LIVE presence, but we’ll see how it goes for a week or so. If you use twitter, you can follow me. I’ll be using it to kinda keep you updated as to when I flip on the camera or when I’m actually in front of it.

twitter.com/livedomainer and you can find the srtream either in the sidebar here, or at livedomainer.com

I probably will semi-regret opening up my little life to all of you freaks but whatever… I can’t guarantee you that I will have any answers for you, but I’ll help where I think I can. I look forward to meeting new domainers (people) and talking about domains, the Internet, and its integration into your life.

BTW, I’m also doing this for me. I believe that there is something about
transparency and accountability that really works. While my most sincerest hope is that others will find some real value in this experiment, (and possibly start their own channel too) I too want to find/raise the bar of my own domaining strategy and feel that the best way to do that is to engage more deeply with other domainers. So don’t be surprised if I’m the one asking you all the questions!

See you soon,

Jamie Parks
